Groups are a service provided to students that use each others' experiences and insight to help develop a change in our behavior, our cognition, and develop useful social skills. Below is what society typically thinks a small group consists of. Some students may think that a group is all about sitting in a circle and crying. Some may think it's a punishment or a negative reflection of their character. It's important to start a group with a clear purpose, so that everyone feels comfortable and prepared for the sessions ahead.
We focus on the following groups throughout the year. Groups are identified based on teacher referrals, surveys, and data collected through PBIS:
Anger Management, Anxiety, Divorce, Grief, Making and Keeping Friends, Self-Esteem, Girl's World, Social Skills.
Information on any of these group sessions can be found through the resources page on this website.
